Like many of DC's up-and-coming neighborhoods, Trinidad has its share of history. It was formally established in 1888, though the first houses weren't constructed until the early 1900s. A century later, the Trinidad Neighborhood Association was established.
Today, Trinidad hosts neighborhood clean-ups, monthly community meetings, and a Trinidad Day celebration. The neighborhood is home to the Joseph H. Cole Recreation Center and a spray ground, the Trinidad Recreation Center, and a Capital Bikeshare station.
